If you're trying to conserve moisture, why would you chisel it?


There was not much moisture or crop residue to conserve anyway, also we spread cattle manure and I wanted to work it in.

There is a lot of debate about cover crops, but I have not seen the moisture savings make up for what the cover crop uses up.

I'm not going to debate the merits of no-till as that topic has been thoroughly worn out. I just know what works for me and my soils, and the economics of no-till are not feasible in my operation.
