I guess my question would be why even plant corn in that climate, especially when your yield goal is 40 bpa?


Average milo yields are around 50 bu plus or minus. A lot of guys trying non-irrigated corn down here say corn a lot of years will make the same bushels as milo, and in a good year will blow the doors off. Basis difference is nearly $.70 better per bushel, less lodging problems, no sugar cane aphids to fight, better weed control options, faster harvest.

May not work. But I wouldn't know without trying.
