Yes, I rebuilt battery boxes of all of our older tractors 4020,4430,4440,and 4840's. Just remove right hand box and weld it to the left hand box, cut a piece of tread plate with hinges for cover. Used a pair of 12 volt truck batteries,sometimes only one, with threaded top post. This allowed use of very short cables really close to the starter. Has worked great for many years. 4020 was a bit harder to fabricate, used only one battery, but made it a different tractor. All tractors are still used everyday
