Subject: RE: Those goofy organic farmers and their weeds

Northern WI
I hear you Andy. It's embarrassing to ask your organic friends "Do I even cultivate this year?!?" A cover crop of rye, barley, & peas (first planted last fall, latter two planted early this spring [very early by northern WI standards]) worked down, planted a week later (May 21), one tine weeding [pre-emergence] and two rotary hoeings [post-emergence].

I finally did cultivate; call me a coward. Buffalo needed a workout and I like to mound some soil around the base of the corn... -Jared
