Eastern Half of Kansas | I'll agree with both above, still learning, been making alfalfa for 13 years, grass hay since I started raking and moving bales at 12. Every time is different and moisture in air, hay and ground is different.
Have bought alfalfa from Super 65, he does good.
Sidehill above has good recommendations, similar to what we do, when it gets dry, check late afternoon, determine if all stem moisture is out, plan to rake when dew comes back, usually first thing in morning, and I don't like letting double raked hay going into the next night (not getting baled) and taking in heavy dew unless you're in need of some light dew for baling. | |
