Centralia, MO | My two favorite sweet corns are Ambrosia and Incredible, always been partial to the one color instead of bi-color. Seemed like I had more coon problems in the Ambrosia and more suckers than the Incredible, like your pic shows. I had always hoped by planting both varieties that the coons would get their bellies full on the Ambrosia since it was a few days earlier in maturity but finally concluded that it didn't matter how full a coon was, he's still gonna riddle whatever patch is about three days from being ready to eat.
I always have pretty good luck with a propane cannon in the sweet corn, helps with the black birds and the coons. Set a few barrel traps along the sides of the patch and you might get 'em before they make it into the rows. Happy Hunting Good Eating! | |
