Parts of "NC Iowa" (Pocahontas Co.) are very dry... It would be a stretch to say I've averaged much over an inch on all farms in June. I was hoping to plant some beans following a hay field and the ground is bone dry. No chance at all to germinate... Seed is sitting in bags in the shed.

Thankful for good soils and subsoil moisture. Not uncommon "here" to see marginal soils with leaves rolling and even some good ground with an off-color look when the temps rise...
i have a hard time describing where I'm at. Guess the best way is to say I'm halfway between extreme north central and north east Iowa. A dozen miles south of Minnesota. 90 miles west of the river. Even though we both say we're from north central Iowa, we're a long, long ways apart. We had a toad drowner a couple weeks ago that really hurt us. The worst in-field flooding I've ever seen. Nasty erosion. Makes me sick to see it.
