They happen from time to time. If you have enough moisture and nutrients they can produce a decent ear. Otherwise if you are dry and nutrients are scarce they can be considered a weed, but it depends on the number of plants per acre which have these"suckers/tillers" as to how it could impact your final yield in my opinion.
