SE IA | Planted into green rye that had been sprayed with roundup but not dead yet. Corn came up even but we had cold and wet conditions for a week. Corn planted into rye was uneven and yellow. Corn not planted into rye was even and not as yellow. All notill. Notill corn on corn without rye has looke the best. Notill c on c or c on SB with rye all looked the same. Stand 32 to 36. 60 lbs. nitrogen 2x2. Had extension agronomist come out. Pithium lesions on the radical and poorly developed. She said Iowa State research has found the transfer of Pithium from rye root to corn root if rye still green. Thought about posting pictures the first week corn came up, a week later no way. Now very green uneven corn. Nice even corn were it got to late to plant rye last fall. We will see how it all yields. I think we still have a lot to learn. | |
