Clark SD | Ryan, thanks for the reply. The reason i asked is sometimes looking from a distance can be deceiving. We have corn planted into a rye cover crop when looking from the road looks yellow and spindely, but when you look at it close up it has a good green color to it. It is still a little spindely compared to corn planted into bare soil. What little i have checked the soil with the cover has more moisture in it compared to the bare soil. The corn planted into the bare soil looks better than the corn planted into the rye cover, but i expect that to change if it remains to be dry. Here are some pictures of corn close up that was planted into rye cover, but looking from a distance it looks yellow.
