The more you with the soil the more it can compact.


Think about when you dig a hole for a hedge post. You dig it out. You put the hedge post in. And there is barely enough dirt to firm up the post. And after a rain or two the dirt is below the original soil surface.

Always amazed me how digging a hole could eliminate the volume of soil the size of the hedge post.

Just something to think about.
