Callao, Missouri | I've torched more than one crop in the past because I didn't like the looks of it, and wanted to plant something else. If gov wasn't involved he could get a check from the landowners for nitrogen and seed, then replant to what could still be a grand slam soybean crop (depending on chemical program). But because of Fsa and crop ins rules he would have to get their blessing to do this, pay the corn ins, and have reduced coverage for beans because they would now have a second crop determination. At least that's how it's worked for me in the past. It's a huge hassle calling everyone, waiting on adjuster, etc.
I still like my suggestion in my first post the best. If I was the landowner I'd be eager to cut a deal like that to keep my liability premium from being raised. But try transferring a crops ownership mid season doesn't fit the govs check boxes very well. | |
