Some companies are are coming out with big drones with various types of imaging. Typically the company i talked to they will fly your field 8 times or so through out the year reading plant stress they say they can tell nitrate levels etc. Then give you recommendations on nutrients, sidedress rate, etc.. Pretty amazing with utilizing the technology we have to day. But it comes with a hefty price tag that i found very hard to pencil in. I think that area has a long way to go but one of these days it will be beneficial.

I would probably take a step to collecting yield data and then writing prescriptions for you Fall or spring ammonia. Then just incorporate a straight side dress rate for your fertilizer program.
