If the weeds are very thick at all you won't get them all worked out, still have escapes. You have to work it twice at different directions. The guys who worked it once 1.5-2 weeks ago are sorry, and the ones who worked it twice are VERY sorry. It didn't rain when forecasted so many beans laying in dry dirt, or sprouted and died while pigs weeds continue to grow because the pre hasn't been rained into the dirt yet. After you work you still have to spray, also cultivator is very good at "seeding" them.

Best way to control them is stick to a strict chemical regiment, don't skimp, and don't wait! Worst places I had pigweeds is where is turbo tilled in april, notill ground was much cleaner. Best beans I have are on notilled ground, and also the cleanest fields. I'm all for working ground to keep is smooth, and I'm a firm believer in cultivating before corn but working into powder to control weeds is not the answer.

A cultivator, chisile, plow, or ripper is actually vertical tillage as it takes the ground from below and moves it upward. A disk, or turbo till (vertical till) is actually horizontal tillage as it moves the dirt sideways. I guess vertical tillage is more catchy than horizontal tillage.
