Chebanse, IL.....

Mark

I was born 10/48.

I forgot about the 2,4-d sprayer. I guess our corn didn't qualifty as certified organic...if there was such a thing then. Our sprayer was an Iron Age (Oliver) tractor-mounted sprayer that we'd mount on the back of our WC Allis. The booms mounted on the front of the tractor. Pretty neat boom fold system....there was a rope tied to each boom & then cleats that bolted to the fenders that you'd wrap the rope to retract the booms for transport. We sprayed w/drops. WC fenders were the greatest for riders (me). No monitor (no electrical system!), just a pressure gauge for the roller pump. The solution would slosh out of the tank onto your back, but it felt good on your back on a hot day. WC didn't have an umbrella either. That was our corn chemical herbicide program. Stayed that way until the late '60s when herbicide attachments came out for the JD 495 planters.
