we have one hayfield(sandy soil) that is a constant problem with grasshoppers, like spraying every cutting, roadbanks, treelines, around sheds, etc. and not really making a dent in their numbers.

one side of the farm butts up against CRP, and when it gets dry the hoppers move into the hayfield en masse, and continue coming for the rest of the season, along with lots of marestail. spraying the CRP is a no-go with the landowner

anybody with experience with Nosema locustae baits? why can they not be shipped to Illinois? I do not expect 100% control, but we are see completely barren spots from hoppers and getting tired of it, hoping for some population reduction at least

I would guess they have not paid a fee and licensed in Illinois.

Nosema needs to start early it is not going to control waves of large invaders.

Dimilin on the CRP would be an option. Insect hormone. But if no spray at all on CRP, well nothing is going to work well in that situation.
