Subject: South of Winnipeg question

Southeast Nebraska
Took my son on a wonderful fishing trip in Canada last week at Manotak Lodge in Northwest Ontario about 50 miles north of Vermillion Bay. On the trip home (17 through Kenora and 75/I29 south) we were south of Winnipeg and saw something that I'm curious about. There were two fields of what looked like alfalfa to me. All across both fields we blue plastic "huts". I'm curious as the what they are and what their purpose is. Thanks for any help.
