Yep, it takes significant resources to get started and maintain. But avg yield of 3000lb/acre to shoot for @ a couple hundred per pound is return if you can last the several years to get a harvestable crop. Thats why you never see more than an acre or two at a time. Unless it is an established grower.
These guys started with about an acre then added more each year. I believe they were trying to get setup so that they'd always have some to harvest. I don't believe the one ever did harvest any, he was setup for about 3 years then suddenly everything was removed and corn was planted.
