SE Kansas | Got us baffled here, along with the head tech guys from Syngenta and BASF.
Pionner 1751 planted the 7th of May. Went out pre with 1.25 qts of Acuron & 1.5 oz Zidua (low OM sands, less than 2%).
Thursday before memorial day weekend had a 5 inch rain in an afternoon.
Last week saw some biggywhipping, nothing above normal amounts in the other fields we look at, figured it was rapid growth syndrome from the weather we experienced.
Came back Tuesday...and holy cowwwwwww.....did this turn into a train wreck. Rough guesses, 60-75% of the field is wrapped up.
Chem and seed reps came and took a look, decided it was over there heads so the big wigs with the tech teams have been out. Still head scratching to figure out the cause.
Best scenario we can come up with is the massive amount of rain made all the Zidua soluble at once, cloudy wet weather delayed the corn from growing. Memorial day weekend it turned humid, sunny, and warm and the corn started to take off. Sucked up a bunch of Zidua during the rapid growth and has not been able to metabolize that massive amount of chemical.
Not pointing fingers at any one particular company just going off of logical views and PI work. Y'all got any other different suggestions?
And NO, there has been no banvel or banvel type products sprayed on this field or around it either.
