South Texas | Different machines and types of conditioners can make a big difference, as well as how you set the conditioner. Believe flails use less power than rolls and Deeres use more power than New Holland. If you don't need conditioners 50hp will pull 10.5' cut disc mower just fine. I've run my 946 with steel rolls on a 4040, fine in grass but sorghum/sudan will really slow it, like to A3. When you can't see over the hay from the drivers seat a 4840 even gets short on power.
I'd prefer to drive slower with the bigger machine, easier on the back and behind. | |
