After the $10-$15 bales in '12 and '13 they all bought up square balers around here and magically their pasture grass is now good enough to make hay out of. Same ones who wouldn't take a bottom or top bale in a new stack of actual clean meadow hay prior to that. Of course it compounds the issue as most already overgraze horribly so now they are taking the grass down to nothing and not catching any snow over the winter. Should have all kinds of 5 acre patches of weeds in a few years. 5-10 acres won't feed one horse let alone the 2-5 most have around here. Used to have an old guy that did a lot of road side many years ago, finally said the insurance the state required him to have didn't make it worth it any more. I can see someone run off the road playing with their phone and hit a 1400lb round bale killing them then the family sues the hell out of the guy who left the bale there. |
