Sunnyside, WA | Rules for heat stress in dairy cattle: shade first, then water. There is some data out of Nebraska I think that on a 90° day, direct sunlight can heat up black soil to 150°. Shade reduces that to 112° or something. I just saw the data, so don't quote me, but shade should be first. Just make sure the shade is narrow and oriented north to south so the sun movement will dry it automatically | |
