Going to a discbine you'll all ready be cutting twice as much as your current machine. You'll never regret going to the discbine, just wonder why you didn't do it earlier. Good luck!
Although I don't completely disagree with you, I do to a point. I started with a NH489 mower, then "upgraded" to a used NH415 discbine. I think it was around 11 feet but don't remember for sure. Yes that thing would eat hay but required using my bigger tractor that I normally had on the round baler. Well that mower literally flew apart 30 acres after getting it so I traded it back in on a NH116 14ft hydraswing. I can cut just as much per hour with the 116 on a smaller tractor as I could with the 415.
I think a lot depends on your field length, if you have longer fields, yes a discbine will cut a lot of acres per hour but for shorted fields, I think sidepull vs centre pivot plays in a lot more to me. |
