Iowa | Jim I know you like your system and good for you, I'm not suggesting to do what I'm about to state just sharing.
My neighbor feeds about 75 cows with 3 of those feed wagons similar to what you use. He bought a small mixer for around $3500 and mixes silage and hay about 3 days worth at a time dumps it out and scoops it and fills the feed wagons. Every fourth day he does it again. Simple and efficient and yes they will gorge themselves the first few days but will get accustomed to the process after a week or so.
By the way I sure don't feed cows twice a day don't know many people that do. | |
