Subject: RE: Stalk breakdown concoction

Morris, IL
I read something from university of Illinois that they tried lot of fertilizer and made no difference. Ams, UAN they I think. I'm not sure if they tried something like sugar but would be interested to try. If I was going to try some fertilizer I would try liquid ams, hintzsche and agtech to lot of it. University of Illinois said if you only use 50lb. Of N it gets tied up in the residue and can't be lost like 200lb. Of fall NH3 can, or so they say.

That said, crank that dryer up, chop stalks up and it pails in comparison. That is my plan, and it flat out works. I go after the coc fields first. Maybe with your spring strips and no till beans going after those fields would be better.

This is prime example of great residue decay to me at least. First combined, stalk chopped, strip tilled over month later.
