When putting in a new alfalfa field with annual rye, what is your fert. program? Do you fert for the annual rye as well as the alfalfa or just fert for the alfalfa? I did the same this year and my annual rye is no where near ready to cut. It was planted the 23 of april, however we have had only 3" of rain since then and 2.5 of that was within the first 1.5 weeks.
