I have no experience with notill but one of the best improvements we made for emergence on beans was to stop drilling them and use our corn planter with kinze brush meters. We use less seed and get a much more even stand. Especially going into rye I'd think you'd want something where you could dial in the down pressure better. I'm sure others with more experience can sound off on that.

Fyi...I'd sure like to try some cover crops in the future...always like to dip my toes in the water.
