Subject: RE: Sulfur applied granular vs foliar

Many foliar Sulfur sources can be problematic from a burn standpoint especially when trying to achieve a 16:1 N:S target

Dry AMS or Liquid ATS are forms that are relatively stable and immediately available.

Elemental S is the cheapest S source per pound, but it does require microbial conversion by Thio bacillus. Conversion is driven by soil temp, moisture, and grind size. Many "popcorn" Sulfurs will still be in the soil a hundred years from now. Find the smallest grind possible or use tiger90 for spread pattern and small grind.

AMS, ATS and Elemental S will acidify your soil. Bring in Middle TN means you may need to apply more lime to offset the acidification.

Gypsum is also another form of sulfate Sulfur. Now that they clean it from the atmosphere, we have to buy it and spread it! Gypsum does not change Soil pH.

May favorite is to include ATS with UAN.
