NE Iowa | I've been doing it for about 7 or 8 years. The variation in results from one sample to another is huge. It makes soil sampling seem like an exact science. I think variety may play a role in the variation. In different fields of basically same soil type and N rates I would get values that range from "very low" to "excessive" with the odd medium, optimum, and high mixed in. It is something I recommend trying if you haven't but caution on making any major changes on N rates based on only one year's samples. A & L labs did my tests and only cost $10 per sample. | |
