Great pictures Bill, love to see some late season nitrogen in a field that looks that great. I sidedness NH3 as well as maybe half a dozen guys in this area. Love to see close up of your bar if you have any pictures. In this neighbor hood that is not considered a low cost rig.

Grandfather tells me he tried the 12 row 183 on the 1066 (just like yours but no cab) and he said worked great in the field but second he lifted it up he was steering with the brakes. He had a 1586 but it had fat tires but would stay on the ground. Good luck to you on that, i've side dressed plenty but never did get in on row crop cultivating, it's a good thing to as i think my fields would get a case of iron blight.

I went the other way spraying. I drive and it does everything else, section shut off and rate control. Really makes it nice doesn't it to be able to do one or the other.

A couple things. I will take some pics of the toolbar. You mention late season N. I watch every year as guys head to the field to side dress 30-50 units of 28 or 32 when the corn is barely out of the ground. Is that side dress? My agronomist says not really. This field has been corn since 07 probably. Always a work in progress, I have a field of coc that is 200# preplant, this one is 100# preplant, 100# side dress and a field that is 200# side dressed yesterday.
As far as the cultivator it will be fine. It spent more time on the 1086 then anything else. I have all 12 weights on the front rack. Took the rolling shields on the cultivator years ago to lighten it up. I actually carried it out of the shed with 4 weights and I probably wouldnt have went to the field like that!
Someone asked about the 5088. It was a new addition last winter. I wanted to free up one of the boxcars for other work and had been looking at tri stripe 1086's to spray with. One with 3 outlets and closed center hydraulics was my target but they are over priced generally and the hydraulics can be troublesome. I ended up going with this 5088 and am glad I did. Much nicer to drive than a 86. Without those stupid trans levers in the way the backwards doors dont bother at all. Bigger, longer, heavier tractor doesnt hurt dragging the sprayer around. In some ways I like the cab over the boxcars. Biggest is I can open the right door and fool with the monitors very easily. Good looking tractors overall!
