Planting into cool, wet soils can increase the chance of SDS infection. But what is also important is how the rest of the season is on moisture. If it's wet during flowering you may get severe symptoms. You might be fine if it is not wet during flowering.

Planting conditions are the main way to manage for infection. It's like washing your hands often if everyone around you is sick, could still get it but less likely.
