Murfreesboro, Tennessee | I have ran CIH planters for the last 20 yrs. For 2016 we purchased a 3600 Kinze to plant beans with. It too had Martin spiked closing wheels on the rear.
I was a little unimpressed with those closing disks. We had some uneven emergence that I contributed to not knowing how to set the planter. Seems that in the rough not till conditions, they did OK, but in some ground that was turbo tilled, they did not perform well at all.
Spoke to someone about these planters and he said he changes closing wheels on these planters as conditions change (wet, dry, worked ground, etc.). We purchased the cast iron closing wheels to use next year. | |
