Kingston,Mi | When I worked at a tire store, we had rims widened for TerraTires at a welding shop and had about 8 to 10 inches in width added. As others have pointed out, dismount the tire completely, prep the crack, and then weld. I would personally take it to a welding professional, pay the price and wince possibly. Unless you are a truly professional welder, I would expect that the weld will be porous and you will require a tube, if that is the case, investigate the use of tape or a piece of a compatible radial tube to make a tight band over the entire valley of the rim to protect the new tube from damage. | |
