| Farm across the road from ours had an open ditch that started on their side of the road & ran to a nearby drainage ditch. In the mid to late '50s they put a tile into the bottom of it & filled it over. Every since we have had ponding issues after a heavy rain. Aunt, who was borned on our farm in 1899 once said that they never had ponding problems until after that ditch was filled in
I have since had our low ground tiled but it will still flood with a really heavy rains though water now usually gets away before much crop damage though back in June we lost a good 2 acres in that area. But then we had 12+" of rain in 8 days.
