Subject: RE: Losing Nichols Knock-On sweeps

Wisconsin
This year we are using the tab style clip with 12" sweeps for the first time on a JD 2410 and haven't lost one yet. The problem we had was the sweep wouldn't pound on far enough for the tab to lock into the hole in the sweep. Some were 1/4" short of locking in, some worked without modification. We ended up taking a little material off some of the corners of the cast wedge adapter with a flap wheel on a grinder until the sweep would go on far enough for the tab to lock.

When our dealer told Nichols about our issue, Nichols told them that it was normal for the tabs not to lock into the holes and that some guys don't even use ANY locking spring plates....they just wedge the sweep onto the adapter. I'm sorry, but I don't belive that for a second and feel like Nichols was feeding us a line of BS.
