These drains were all dug, i think, back in the 1930s & 40s when the upper water irrigation came into the valley. That caused the water table to rise on the flat ground bringing with it a bad alkai issue forcing some ground out of production for several years till the drainage districts were formed.
Everything we did was approved by the appropriate people
