if it was me, I would just spray it with r-up, then for your second pass put in some classic, firstrate, etc.
going at alfalfa guns loaded the first time is no fun when you cannot get the weeds under the alfalfa canopy, better to burn it off with roundup or something and plan on spraying again in 2 weeks.
