We double the rate to kill alfalfa like that, for us it's 2 quart of roundup per acre at 20 gallons per acre. We also mix AMS at 15lbs to 100 gallons of water. It will take a while for the alfalfa to die but it works here. Not sure if they're all like this but the generic brand of roundup we use already has a surfactant mixed in with it.
