The black sand beaches of Jamaica, IL | Have a conventional alfalfa stand seeded this spring that's starting to get overrun with weeds (mostly pigweed and lambsquarter). The alfalfa is not quite 12" tall and not blooming yet. I know my chemical options are limited on a new seeding so I was considering mowing it a bit earlier than I normally would. Do I run the risk of hurting the stand by cutting too early? I got held up and didn't get it seeded as early as I'd like and probably should have used a nurse crop. |
