Yes, we were quite sceptical of putting an auger extension on our combines, but when we went to the extensions made by Lankota, the grain flow was smoothed out. It comes out in a nice steady stream now. Pretty simple to install, but the only problem is with the Lankota type extensions you don't have a gate anymore so you can get a little dribble. I saw last fall that Deere started making their own extension that has the "catch pan" built in. I'm not sure on cost, but it sure wasn't built as heavy as the ones we bought.
