| I remember some of that turbine racer. Besides lots more horsepower than a piston engine of similar weight the car had four wheel drive, the only racer ever that I ever heard of. I only remember it in one Indy 500 and it simply outran all the other cars on the track until the next to the last lap when it broke and stalled.
Yes it was STP and Andy Granitelli as I recall.
Today's matching engines, transmissions, tires, and axle ratios makes all cars run so much the same the most of the race was bumper to bumper single file. Boring until there is a wreck.
