You are absolutely correct that the chain is only as strong as the weakest link. I'd carry the chair to the back of the house and out of view of the street and break in the sliding patio doors.

As Dave says though, it's a "rough" neighborhood where the house is located so I don't spend a lot of time worrying about a break in.
