Subject: RE: What is eating my sweet corn

nw NC
Did the corn come up to a good stand and some has now totally disappeared? Or has it been cut or bitten off an inch or two above ground with a stubble of the little stalk still there? If it was deer grazing it will be cut off and the top portion gone without a trace , it was eaten. It appears that there may be cut down/broken off stalks scattered through the patch, it that correct? If so look at the stalk where it was cut from the stubble. If it has two lines a quarter to a half inch apart on opposite sides of the stalk, those are the marks from where some type bird species grasped the small plant trying to pull it up. I've never heard of ground hogs cutting off corn , but who knows .....
I hate crows, turkey, geese and deer. Thank God there are no feral hogs here.
