Kingston,Mi | When I was a platoon Sgt. in a army training company, the south of Mason Dixon cadre ate theirs with the following recipe or modification. Instant grits (remember the army is not a 5 star eating establishment) with steaming hot water from the coffee pot, a semi soft order of eggs, several strips of crispy bacon, a couple of pats of butter then salt and pepper to taste and finished off with several dashes of tabasco. The eggs were cut into the grits then the bacon broke in followed by the butter and the spices. A large cup of coffee and strawberry jam on your toast and you were set to inflict emotional trauma on the troops. | |
