Its pretty common here to do it a week or two after planting. Usually before the pipe goes out, but I've seen guys move every line to do it if they felt it necessary. 250 hp tractors on 12.4 tires with loaded potato planters, tanks etc can make for some tight furrows and potatoes don't like wet feet. Don't see many dammer dikers here anymore though, I don't really know why.
