Subject: RE: What I can't understand

Galahad, Alberta
It all depends on the area. Just got the local farm equipment paper and found the add for my nearest JD dealer.
8- 9860's '06
5- 9760's '05
7- 9760's '04
1- 9750 '00
and a 9650, 9610, 8820,7720 etc.
Point that I'm making is that our 3 local BTO's account for 22 new machines every year, plus about 5 individual machines to other farmers. As you can see, they move almost all those 1 year old trades every year. There are lots of farmers who are willing to let the bto take the big depreciation hit of the first year and then buy the machine after the curve is starting to flatten out a bit.
FWIW, our biggest bto just rolled most of his iron. 8- 9860's, 3 9620T's, 3 1820-1910 air drill/430 cart combo's, and 2 macdon 36' swathers-all one year old!! Only thing that he kept that I know of were the 8 936D headers, plus a couple chore tractors.
