Subject: RE: Replanting corn tomorrow....tearing it up today

Morris, IL
My grandfather is in his early 70's, farmed for 40 years, says he hardly ever replanted corn prior to the last 10 years, and when he did it was a pond here and there, maybe acre or 2 per field at most. In the last 5 years we have replanted corn 4 times, and it was 20-30 acres per 80, ride across the entire farm. And every rain event does more damage now then 10 rains from years back. Landlord has a bridge with wooden bridge planks, he is in his 90's, says he never even bolted them down and never lost one over his 60 years from childhood to retirement. Now he has them bolted down and they still wash away, last year bridge was covered with water 4 or 5 times, and probably a dozen times in the last 10 years. Something has changed, not sure if it's just our little area or what. By the way, i'll be riding fields first of the week planting corn in, probably tear up an entire field as well. I feel for you don't get me wrong, but join the club.
