When something goes wrong and you need a part, 9 times out of 10 the dealer doesn't have it. Back in the day, there was a lot more interchangeability between tractors. Some things would fit a 4240 and also work on a 4640. Now if you have a 6000 series, 7000 series tractor or, an 8000 series they are all completely different animals.
As for diagnosing problems with a computer, you have to call the dealer to do that, Then it's so complicated they have to fix it. I get where shorty1 is coming from. Gone are the days that you diagnose, go get the part, and fix it yourself.
More than likely, if the EPA weren't involved these machines would be built much simpler. Much of it is the result of the hoops the manufacturers have to jump through to get it approved by the EPA. | |
