If that were true then no cash market could function without a futures market.  There are several that do operate without a futures market and they work just fine.  There is limited opportunity for speculation in those markets but that is really the whole point isn't it?

I have never thought that the high prices we saw over the last couple of years were either a reflection of fundamentals or a good thing for our business.
