south central IOWA | The wife and I are getting a house built and the contractor, or actually the framer, showed me that the plumber didn't do one thing right with their rough in.
The toilet is off about 8", the shower drain off 8", the sink drain off 6" the other direction, a clean out where it's not needed, totally forgot a drain for a sink, and didn't plumb the footing drains into the sump basket.
They used form-a-drains on the footings and the inside drain is basically just a continuous loop with no direct outlet to daylight.
To make things even more handy I have in floor heat tubes ran every where.
The contractor said today he wants to cut the concrete, move the drains, plumb the sump basket into the footing drains, and splice the floor heat tubes. He said there would never be any problems.
My issue is, the basement isn't getting finished right now but I had them frame it. I don't like the idea of patching the concrete because it makes for an easier access point for water along with I don't want to look at the patches and I don't like the idea of splicing the floor heat tubes because that adds a point of weakness in them.
What's a good fix? I told them to tear out the whole floor and start over but he said that's not happening. What kind of compensation should I get for dealing with these issues?
People ain't joking when they say building a house is stressful.....
